- 1 lb shrimp
- 2 large tomatoes,pureed
- 1/2 onion,chopped
- 3 tsp tandoori chicken masala powder
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder (optional)
- coriander leaves,gingelly oil,salt.
Procedure :
- Clean the shrimp,peeled,deveined and rinsed with turmeric powder and set it aside.
- Add the tomato puree,tandoori chicken masala powder,chilli powder to the shrimp and marinate for minimum of 30 mins.
- In a kadai,heat gingelly oil.Once the oil is hot,add the chopped onions and cook them till they are golden brown.
- Now add the marinated shrimp along with the marinade.Let the whole thing cook till the raw smell goes and the gravy starts to thicken.Check if the shrimp is cooked.Check for salt.(Be careful with the salt,as there is already salt in the shrimp and tandoori masala powder also.)
- Keep the flame high and let the gravy reduce,just enough to coat the shrimp.Keep stirring and scraping the browned bits from the bottom of the kadai.
- Finely chop the coriander leaves and add it to the shrimp and stir it in.
- Shrimp thokku is ready.
