Ingredients :
- 1 box of ground turkey(bought from shoprite)
- 2 onions,chopped
- 1 tomato,chopped
- 2 green chilies,finely chopped(optional)
- 2 tsp ginger garlic paste,(homemade or store bought)
- handful of coriander leaves
- 1/4 lb of valor(avarakkai),chopped
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp fennel seeds,curry leaves
- salt
- 3 tbsp of olive oil
Procedure :
- Heat oil in a pan.Add the seasonings, then onion and fry till they are soft.
- Then add tomatoes and green chilies. Then add all the spice powders, ginger garlic paste and coriander leaves and cook them for couple of minutes.
- Now add the ground turkey and scramble it in,breaking the lumps and stirring frequently.
- When the turkey is cooked halfway through, add the chopped valor(avarakkai) and let it everything cook for a while.Keep stirring in between to avoid, burning.
- Cook nicely, till the meat gets a brown color and the gravy is dry and starts letting out the oil.It should almost have the texture of scrambled eggs. Now remove from the heat and serve.
- It can be served as a side dish for roti ,or as kheema dosai or as a stuffing for pita pockets or in between bread.
- Thanks to my friend,Shirley, who shared this recipe with me and the yummy dish, which inspired me to make it myself.
- Before cooking this recipe,I had doubts about cleaning the ground meat, and my friend suggested to lightly wash,by pouring water over the cut packet and drain the water.
- Rinsing the meat heavily with water,as we do with goat kheema, gives very bad results , because the meat is very lean and ground very fine.
