Chicken Gravy - Quick,Simple and Easy



Ingredients :

  • 2 lbs chicken legs,cleaned with turmeric powder
  • 2 cardamom,2" cinnamon, 2 cloves, 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 15 small onions,chopped lengthwise
  • 1 tomato
  • 1/2 green pepper,chopped into chunks
  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste(store bought)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic paste(store bought)
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 2 tsp kitchen king powder(kind of garam masala powder,available at any indian store)
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • gingelly oil,salt,coriander leaves.


Procedure :

  1. Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a kadai.Once the oil is hot,season with cardamom,cinnamon,cloves and fennel seeds.
  2. Then add the onions and let it cook.Now add the chopped tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes get soft and starts blending with the onion.
  3. Add ginger and garlic paste and all the above listed powders.Cook till the raw smell goes and everything comes together in a nice gravy consistency.
  4. Now add the cleaned chicken,stir it in with the gravy and cover it with a lid.Let it cook for about 10 mins in a medium to slow flame.
  5. Now,take the lid of,add necessary amt of salt  and chopped capsicum.Put the lid back on and cook for another 10 mins in a medium flame.
  6. Remove the lid and let the gravy reduce down to the desired consistency(that is another 5 to 7 mins).Check if the chicken is done.Now add chopped coriander leaves and serve.
