Malli thuvaiyal a.k.a Coriander Chutney

Ingredients :

  1. Urad dal(ulundu)   -  2 tbsp
  2. dry red chillies       - 4 
  3. grated coconut       - 1/4 cup
  4. coriander               - 1 cup  (leaves and stems chopped)
  5. tamarind               -  grape sized ball
Procedure :
  1. Wash coriander in water and get rid of all the sand.Then drain the water and roughly chop it.
  2. Heat a pan and add 1 tsp of oil.
  3. Toast urad dal until it turns red.
  4. Then add red chillies and coconut and toast until the coconut starts changing color.
  5. Add the chopped coriander and cook it just for a min.
  6. Let the whole thing just cool down.
  7. Grind the toasted ingredients,tamarind and necessary amount of salt into a coarse paste.
  8. If the thuvaiyal is little bitter add some more tamarind and grind a bit.
  9. Goes well with rasam,sambhar or tomato rice.
